THANK YOU

On November 15th, 2025, the 9th edition of the International Student Conference “Frontiers in Neurology, Neurophysiology, Neuropharmacology and Neurorehabilitation,” organized by the Student Scientific Circle of Neurophysiologists of the Student Scientific Society at the Poznan University of Medical Sciences, took place. The conference was held in a hybrid format. It was officially endorsed by the Rector of the University, Prof. Zbigniew Krasiński, the European Academy of Neurology, the Director of the Wiktor Dega Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Hospital Dr. hab. Przemysław Daroszewski, the Student Scientific Society of the Poznan University of Medical Sciences, the Polish Society of Clinical Neurophysiology, the Greater Poland Medical Chamber, and many other distinguished partners.

A total of over 100 participants from all over Poland and 14 attendees from the United States, Taiwan, and the Netherlands took part in the event. Eight experts delivered lectures, and 17 student reports were presented. The conference was preceded by an extensive program of practical workshops in electromyography and methods for assessing nervous system excitability.

The conference was opened by the Director of the Wiktor Dega Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Clinical Hospital in Poznań, Dr. hab. Przemysław Daroszewski. During the expert session, participants had the opportunity to hear lectures from specialists in anesthesiology, including Dr. Małgorzata Reysner and Dr. Tomasz Reysner, who addressed the neurophysiological foundations of pain modulation through regional analgesics and anesthetic management during scoliosis surgery. Surgeon Michał Górecki, MD, presented strategies for brachial plexus reconstruction after injuries and discussed principles of cooperation between surgeons and neurophysiologists. Dr. Agnieszka Wiertel-Krawczuk gave a lecture on the differential diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome versus C8 nerve root injury. Anna Krzyżańska, MSc, shared insights into the technology and application of exoskeletons in the rehabilitation of cerebral palsy, while Jakub Matuska, MSc, discussed the role of physiotherapy in managing chronic musculoskeletal pain. Prof. Juliusz Huber, MD, PhD, addressed the neurophysiological analysis of spinal pathways responsible for reflex locomotion, and Dr. Maciej Wiktor Klimasiński presented methodologies for treating chronic pain using pulsed neuromodulation.

In the student competition session, 17 speakers presented their work. The jury consisted of Dr. Agnieszka Wiertel-Krawczuk, Dr. Katarzyna Leszczyńska, and Prof. Juliusz Huber. In addition to excellent awards for the top six places, all abstracts were published in the journal Issues of Rehabilitation, Orthopaedics, Neurophysiology and Sport Promotion. The winners were:

  • 1st place: Mikołaj Sobczak (Wrocław Medical University)

  • 2nd place: Kamil Nowaczyk (Wrocław Medical University)

  • 3rd place: Mateusz Zajączkowski (Jagiellonian University Medical College)

Honorable mentions were awarded to Julia Naskrent (Wrocław Medical University), Patrycja Krysiak (Poznan University of Medical Sciences), and Marta Koźmińczuk (Wrocław Medical University). The student session concluded with a quiz for the participants, featuring prizes.

The organization and execution of the entire event were the result of the hard work of many ambitious young researchers.
